The Original Zen Buddhism

Zen is a Japanese word.

Chan is the Chinese word that the Japanese called Zen.

Chan Buddhism was founded by Bodhidharma, while meditating in a cave above the Shaolin Temple in China.

Bodhidharma believed that exercise was required for any monk to reach enlightenment, or to be a worthy monk.

Bodhidharma's Shaolin Disciples expanded the exercises by adding Muslim Kung Fu drills.

The warrior Buddhist Monks looked for the best Kung Fu and China and added Kung Fu weaponry dances from the "Hui" tribes of Northern China.

Now, the Shaolin Monks are famous for their Kung Fu. Most people don't realize that Kung Fu originated for spiritual development, not warfare. Even if the original intentions were self-defense, they were to protect Buddhism, not be mercenaries.

shaolinZEN.org is the CyberTemple founded by Buddha Zhen Shen-Lang, who also founded the Tai Chi Youth Nonprofit Organization, and Shaolin Chi Mantis Traditional Buddhist Gongfu. Buddha Zhen strives to improve each student by developing their body with Yang Style Taijiquan, balance their minds with Zen Buddhism, while developing their inner energies and spiritual powers with Qigong, Yoga, and advanced energy flow meditation exercises.
